| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Theodore "Ted" Lovett, who passed away |
| 4 | | on August 14, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ted Lovett was born to Sam Lovett Jr. and Jahaza |
| 6 | | Newell Lovett in Heidelberg, Mississippi on February 27, 1945, |
| 7 | | the tenth of twelve children; he committed to his faith at an |
| 8 | | early age, and he was baptized at Oak Bowery United Methodist |
| 9 | | Church; he attended South Side High School in Heidelberg; he |
| 10 | | relocated to Chicago in the late 1960s, where he met his wife, |
| 11 | | Angela; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Ted Lovett served as a member of the historic |
| 13 | | Pullman Porter Team, where he enjoyed meeting people and |
| 14 | | visiting new cities; he later worked as a construction worker |
| 15 | | until his retirement; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Ted Lovett enjoyed the outdoors, including family |
| 17 | | fishing trips; he was known for his impressive home garden and |
| 18 | | was an enthusiastic fan of music, with his favorite artist |
| 19 | | being Sam Cooke; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Ted Lovett was preceded in death by his wife; his |
| 21 | | parents; and his siblings, Hattie Windham, Sam Earl Lovett, |
