| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Michael John "Mike" Kaczmarz of |
| 4 | | Springfield, who passed away on June 27, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Kaczmarz was born in Chicago to Walter and |
| 6 | | Alice (Pekofske) Kaczmarz on August 26, 1950; he graduated |
| 7 | | from Quigley South High School in Chicago and earned his |
| 8 | | bachelor's degree from Blackburn College; he married Patricia |
| 9 | | Quinlan Schuh in Tinley Park on September 7, 2003; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Mike Kaczmarz was an English teacher and |
| 11 | | basketball coach at St. Rita of Cascia High School and St. |
| 12 | | Francis de Sales High School in Chicago; he also worked at |
| 13 | | Virden, Sacred Heart-Griffin, and Buffalo Tri-City high |
| 14 | | schools; in addition to basketball, he coached track and golf; |
| 15 | | and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Mike Kaczmarz was affectionately known as "Coach |
| 17 | | Kaz" and was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches |
| 18 | | Hall of Fame with over 400 wins, including a 1988 2nd place |
| 19 | | finish in the state tournament; he enjoyed golf and was a |
| 20 | | regular at the Brookhills Golf Club; he was an avid reader and |
| 21 | | especially loved Shakespeare; he was a fan of the Chicago Cubs |
| 22 | | and a proud Dziadzia to Theo; he was also a music enthusiast |
