| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Edward James "Ed" Vaughn Jr. of |
| 4 | | Cordova, who passed away on May 11, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ed Vaughn was born in Moline to Edward Sr. and |
| 6 | | Mable (Slininger) Vaughn on December 23, 1947; he served in |
| 7 | | the United States Army for two years during the Vietnam War; he |
| 8 | | married Linda Marie Nichols at the Cordova Baptist Church on |
| 9 | | February 7, 1970; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Ed Vaughn was employed at John Deere Harvester |
| 11 | | Works as a welder in the maintenance department for more than |
| 12 | | 32 years, retiring in 2004; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ed Vaughn enjoyed working on old cars, fishing, |
| 14 | | and making crafts; he was a member of the Stewart Masonic Lodge |
| 15 | | in Geneseo and the Cordova American Legion; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Ed Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 17 | | and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Ed Vaughn is survived by his wife, Linda; his |
| 19 | | children, William "Bill" (Cheryl) Vaughn and Tammy Vaughn; his |
| 20 | | sister, Mary Louise McCarthy; his grandchildren, Matthew |
