| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Ruth Ann Bush-McGaskey, who passed |
| 4 | | away on April 18, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Bush-McGaskey was born to James Alfred Bush |
| 6 | | and Willie Belle Clark Bush in Natchitoches, Louisiana on |
| 7 | | October 26, 1944; she committed to her faith at an early age |
| 8 | | and was baptized at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the |
| 9 | | Apostolic Faith; she graduated from Natchitoches Central High |
| 10 | | School; she received her licensed practical nurse diploma from |
| 11 | | East St. Louis State Community College in 1980; she married |
| 12 | | George McGaskey on August 25, 1990; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Bush-McGaskey cared for patients in |
| 14 | | hospitals and residents in nursing homes for over 30 years; |
| 15 | | she worked as the director of nursing at Christian Care Home in |
| 16 | | St. Louis, Missouri; after retiring from nursing, she spent |
| 17 | | time as an after-school worker at High Mount Elementary |
| 18 | | School, working with youth on various activities and homework, |
| 19 | | and as a receptionist at the Social Security Administration's |
| 20 | | Belleville office; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Bush-McGaskey volunteered at a local |
| 22 | | church's food pantry in Collinsville; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Bush-McGaskey enjoyed sewing, cooking, |
| 2 | | decorating, traveling, fishing, shopping, decorating, playing |
| 3 | | slots at the casino, completing crossword puzzles, dressing |
| 4 | | fashionably, and scrolling through Facebook; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Bush-McGaskey will be remembered as a |
| 6 | | generous, soft-spoken, kindhearted person who loved spending |
| 7 | | time with her family, especially her husband, children, and |
| 8 | | grandchildren; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Bush-McGaskey was preceded in death by her |
| 10 | | husband; her daughter, Jacqueline Hayes; her granddaughter, |
| 11 | | Tammurra Hamilton; her grandson, Darrin B. Hayes II; her |
| 12 | | sisters, Vera Bush, Moise Modest, and Mary Dee McGaskey; and |
| 13 | | her brothers, Joe D. Bush, Lester Bush Sr., Odell Bush, James |
| 14 | | Bush Jr., Clyde Bush, and Henry Earl Bush; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Bush-McGaskey is survived by her children, |
| 16 | | Steve McGaskey, Patrina Bush, Patrick Bush, Roderick Bush, |
| 17 | | Tammy Bush-Hamilton, Latekia Bush, Javonda (Untress) Quinn, |
| 18 | | and Jalonda Bush; her grandchildren, Alicia McGaskey, Corey |
| 19 | | McGaskey, Szemarr McGaskey, Jaquette Sterling-Ransom, Ashley |
| 20 | | Hence, Taylor Bush, Antonio Lewis, Brionnca Lewis, Frederick |
| 21 | | Taylor Jr., Amare Quinn, and Aden Quinn; her |
| 22 | | great-grandchildren, Taylor Jones, Kori Jones, Korianna Jones, |
