| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of John F. Early of Elgin, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on April 17, 2024; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, John Early was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania | ||||||
| 6 | to Colonel John A. and Helen T. (Moore) Early on March 3, 1946; | ||||||
| 7 | he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in numerous | ||||||
| 8 | places, including Fort Riley, Kansas; he received his Bachelor | ||||||
| 9 | of Arts in 1968 and his Juris Doctor in 1971, both from the | ||||||
| 10 | University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, John Early was a founding partner of the law firm | ||||||
| 12 | Early, Tousey, Wlodek, Wong & Early, LLP in the city of Elgin; | ||||||
| 13 | he was highly respected as an attorney both by his colleagues | ||||||
| 14 | and by the community at large throughout his legal career and | ||||||
| 15 | community involvement; he was a former assistant state's | ||||||
| 16 | attorney in Kane County; he served as the secretary-treasurer, | ||||||
| 17 | vice president, and president of the Kane County Bar | ||||||
| 18 | Association from 1997 to 2003; he also served in the assembly | ||||||
| 19 | and on committees of the Illinois State Bar Association; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, John Early's sense of adventure was captured at a | ||||||
| 21 | young age, starting with his father being stationed in many | ||||||
| 22 | places, including Taiwan, San Francisco, and Ohio; he shared | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | his love of travel with his family, and their adventures | ||||||
| 2 | included tours of Ireland, Italy, and England, boating in the | ||||||
| 3 | British Virgin Islands, taking a train trip west to | ||||||
| 4 | California, and driving cross country many times; his happy | ||||||
| 5 | places were the family home in Galena, Disney World, and St. | ||||||
| 6 | Pete Beach, Florida, where he spent many wonderful times with | ||||||
| 7 | family and extended family; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, John Early was a devoted Illini fan and spent | ||||||
| 9 | many weekends with family and friends traveling back to the | ||||||
| 10 | University of Illinois as a football season ticket holder and | ||||||
| 11 | many hours watching the Illini play basketball; he was an avid | ||||||
| 12 | tennis player in his youth and enjoyed weekend matches with | ||||||
| 13 | friends later in life; he loved reading and was a wealth of | ||||||
| 14 | knowledge on many and varied topics; he was a great | ||||||
| 15 | storyteller and loved reminiscing with friends and family over | ||||||
| 16 | daily lunches at Paul's Family Restaurant, Carmina's, Jimmy's | ||||||
| 17 | Char House, The Skillet, and other eateries that made it into | ||||||
| 18 | the weekly lunch rotation; he was an ardent foodie, and fine | ||||||
| 19 | dining was his ultimate pleasure; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, John Early was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
| 21 | his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen and Mitchell | ||||||
| 22 | Slonina; and his sister, Patricia Lynch; and | ||||||
| 23 | WHEREAS, John Early is survived by his wife, Mary | ||||||

| 1 | (Slonina); his children, John A. Early, Meghan E. Early, and | ||||||
| 2 | Catie H. Early (Kai Bandziukas); his grandchildren, A.J. | ||||||
| 3 | Early, Archer Early, Ella Thompson, Ozzie Thompson, and | ||||||
| 4 | Josephine Early; his former son-in-law, Nicolas Thompson; his | ||||||
| 5 | former daughter-in-law, Rebecca Early; his brother, Tony | ||||||
| 6 | (Georgine); his sister, Kathy; and many nieces and nephews; | ||||||
| 7 | therefore, be it | ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
| 9 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 10 | John F. Early and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 11 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 12 | further | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to the family of John Early as an expression of our | ||||||
| 15 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
