SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of David K. "Dave" Burkhead of Rock 
4Island, who passed away on April 19, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dave Burkhead was born to Fred and Dorothy (Timm) 
6Burkhead in Rock Island on May 9, 1936; he enlisted in the U.S. 
7Air Force after high school, and he was honorably discharged 
8on September 16, 1962; he married Joan Van Den Hende in Rock 
9Island on February 13, 1960, and they settled in Rock Island, 
10where they raised their family; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dave Burkhead spent his career as a water 
12treatment operator, first serving the City of Rock Island 
13before joining the Rock Island Arsenal, where he worked until 
14his retirement; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dave Burkhead was a talented woodworker and was 
16always working on some sort of project at his house; he was a 
17sports fan and loved bowling, playing softball, and attending 
18all of his children's and grandchildren's sporting events; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dave Burkhead was preceded in death by his 
20parents; his wife, Joan; his brothers, Edward, Jerome, and 
21Ralph Burkhead; and his grandson, Alyn Hall; and

1    WHEREAS, Dave Burkhead is survived by his children, Rick 
2Burkhead, Bob (Mary) Burkhead, Linda (Mike) Guay, Rita 
3Entsminger, and Pamela (Rich) Hall; eight grandchildren; nine 
4great-grandchildren; and his sister, Joan Hancks; therefore, 
5be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
8David K. "Dave" Burkhead and extend our sincere condolences to 
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the family of Dave Burkhead as an expression of 
13our deepest sympathy.
