SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Lawrence "Bob" Powers, who passed away on March 29, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Bob Powers was born in Toledo, Ohio to Laura and Edward Powers on November 18, 1939; he graduated from Central Catholic High School in Toledo and served in the United States Marine Corps; he married Bonnie in Toledo, and they relocated to Illinois in 1979; and

WHEREAS, Bob Powers worked in sales at National Standard, Walker/McLean Forge, Sulberg USA, and FPS Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Bob Powers loved to mow, golf, sell and talk sickle guards, listen to music or talk radio while driving his Shelby, watch a good ball game, and, above all else, spend time with his family and friends; upon the passing of his wife, he raised his two young daughters with grace and purpose; and

WHEREAS, Bob Powers made sure all who were important to him felt it and truly wanted the best for everyone he encountered; he worked and excelled in numerous fields and took pride in everything he did, most importantly what he could do for others; and

WHEREAS, Bob Powers was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; his parents; and numerous beloved family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Bob Powers is survived by his sons, Robert E. (Tracey) and Christopher Powers; his daughters, Erin (Colton) Boggs and Katelyn (Trey Bergman) Powers; and his grandchildren, Robert T. Powers, Raegan Powers, Evelyn Boggs, and Holden Bergman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert Lawrence "Bob" Powers and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bob Powers as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
