| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Ruth M. Callahan, who passed away on |
| 4 | | March 13, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Callahan was born to Benton Steve and Martha |
| 6 | | London in Arkansas on April 13, 1940; she married Floyd |
| 7 | | Callahan Sr. in Arkansas in April 1959, and they had four |
| 8 | | children; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Callahan worked in the field of nursing for |
| 10 | | over 20 years; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Callahan committed to her faith at an early |
| 12 | | age, attending Allen Temple Missionary Baptist Church in |
| 13 | | Stuttgart, Arkansas as a child; she was later active at True |
| 14 | | Vine Baptist Church in Dixmoor, Illinois, where she served as |
| 15 | | president of the usher board for many years; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Callahan loved completing word search |
| 17 | | puzzles, and she was devoted to her family; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Callahan was preceded in death by her |
| 19 | | parents; her husband of 36 years, Floyd; her brothers, Benton |
| 20 | | London, Samuel London, and Nathaniel London; and her sisters, |
