| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Jimmie M. Barrett of Havana, who |
| 4 | | passed away on February 19, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jimmie Barrett was born to Ardee and Maxine |
| 6 | | Barrett in Baltimore, Maryland on September 6, 1946; he |
| 7 | | graduated from Woodland High School in Baltimore; he served in |
| 8 | | the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married Marcia Stone |
| 9 | | in Havana, Illinois on August 14, 1976; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jimmie Barrett worked as a laborer for Laborers' |
| 11 | | Local 231 and at the coal docks in Havana; he retired from the |
| 12 | | Havana Park District as superintendent of Parks and Grounds; |
| 13 | | and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jimmie Barrett was a member of Laborers' Local |
| 15 | | 231 and the Izaak Walton League; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Jimmie Barrett loved watching his grandson, Max, |
| 17 | | play sports and his son, Jimmie, race; he also enjoyed |
| 18 | | fishing; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Jimmie Barrett was preceded in death by his |
| 20 | | parents, his wife, and his daughter, Joanna Embry; and |
