SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Elaine "Blondie" Kirk, who passed away on April 17, 2023 at the age of 97; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk was the youngest of seven children, born in Princeton on October 1, 1925; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk was raised on a farm during The Great Depression, attending Knox College in Galesburg; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk met her future husband, Harold Kirk, on a blind date after graduating; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk and Harold moved from Princeton to River Forest after marrying; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk served on the Women's Auxiliary of West Suburban Hospital and with the Infant Welfare Society of Oak Park-River Forest; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk was involved with the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest as an elder; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk also served on the Planning and Development Board of River Forest for many years; and

WHEREAS, In honor of her service to the community, the 600 block of Keystone Avenue was dedicated to her as Elaine "Blondie" Kirk Way; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk loved the outdoors and spent many weeks during the year hunting in North Dakota and fishing in Canada with her husband; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; and

WHEREAS, Elaine is survived by her four children, Scott (Jean), Todd (Jane), Kent (Denise), and Ann Williams (Doug), and 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Elaine "Blondie" Kirk and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Elaine Kirk as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
