| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Paul Clifford Parker of Rock Island, |
| 4 | | who passed away on October 13, 2023; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Paul Parker was born to Clifford and Johanna |
| 6 | | (Wiersma) Parker in Garden Plain on January 29, 1933; he was |
| 7 | | raised in Lyons, Iowa; after graduating high school, he served |
| 8 | | in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; he married Joyce |
| 9 | | Sipes, and together they raised three daughters; he earned his |
| 10 | | bachelor's degree from Carthage College; he later married |
| 11 | | Barbara Neumann; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Paul Parker worked as a welder for various |
| 13 | | farming companies; after earning his degree, he worked at |
| 14 | | Riverdale High School, where he taught math and coached |
| 15 | | various sports, including football; he concluded his career as |
| 16 | | the girls track coach and had a conference track meet named in |
| 17 | | his honor; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Paul Parker was preceded in death by his wife, |
| 19 | | Joyce; his daughter, Deb; his parents; and ten siblings; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Paul Parker is survived by his wife, Barbara; his |
| 21 | | daughters, Pam and Becky; his brother, Walt; several |
