SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jeffrey L. "Jeff" Brown of Virden, who passed away on September 11, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Brown was born to Grace E. (Irwin) and Roger L. Brown on April 16, 1956; he attended St. Isidore's Grade School and graduated from Lincolnwood High School in 1974; he married Constance Benning on March 21, 1975; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Brown worked as a farmer and in construction; he also worked at Art's Motel and Restaurant, Cargill Flour Mill, Farmer's Pellet Company, and for the Illinois Department of Transportation; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Brown was a member of the Farmersville-Waggoner Volunteer Fire Department, serving as chief for 33 years; he also served as a member of the Farmersville-Waggoner Ambulance, as secretary for the Farmersville-Waggoner Fire Protection District, and as a board member of a Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD); and

WHEREAS, Jeff Brown was a proud member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association and competed in many trapshooting events, including the Illinois State Shoot and the Grand American World Trapshooting Championships; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Brown was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mark Brown; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Brown is survived by his wife, Constance "Connie" Brown; his son, Zachary Brown; his daughter, Jessica (John) McCurdy; his granddaughter, Hanna; his grandsons, John (J.J.) and Aaron; his sisters, Debbie (Larry) Lucas and Liz Brown; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jeffrey L. "Jeff" Brown and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jeff Brown as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
