| 3 | | to learn of the death of Evelyn Wiley Rice, who passed away on |
| 4 | | August 15, 2023; and

| 5 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn Rice was born in Chattanooga,
Tennessee to |
| 6 | | Clarence and Evelean Tanksley Wiley on November 27, 1940; at |
| 7 | | the age of seven, she was baptized at First Baptist Church in |
| 8 | | Livingston; she graduated from Sumter
County Training School |
| 9 | | in Livingston, Alabama; she relocated to Chicago with her |
| 10 | | sister, Goldie, in 1953; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn Rice had a number of vocations from |
| 12 | | seamstress to caregiver, and at one time,
she served as a DJ at |
| 13 | | 1390 AM; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn Rice was affectionately known as "Lil Eve |
| 15 | | too hard to please", "Evelaso Morrocco Soul", "ABC 123", and |
| 16 | | "AB"; although she was orphaned at an early age, she was raised |
| 17 | | by her loving family and would often laugh when speaking about |
| 18 | | the mischief that she got into while growing up; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn Rice was a faithful Christian and a |
| 20 | | devoted mother, sister, aunt, and friend; she was loved by all |
| 21 | | who knew her because of her
kind, caring, open, and unselfish |
