| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Olin U. Cowser of Woodhull, who passed |
| 4 | | away on September 5, 2023; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Olin Cowser was born to John and Goldie |
| 6 | | (Hedricks) Cowser in Marceline, Missouri on February 15, 1925; |
| 7 | | after graduation, he moved to the Alpha area, where he did farm |
| 8 | | work; he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and joined the 82nd |
| 9 | | Airborne as a paratrooper, where he completed numerous jumps; |
| 10 | | he married Elnora Carlson in Keytesville, Missouri on December |
| 11 | | 29, 1944; three days later, he was deployed to Europe; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Upon his return from the war, Olin Cowser joined |
| 13 | | with Clyde Parker in the heavy equipment excavating business, |
| 14 | | later becoming Cowser Construction; he owned and operated his |
| 15 | | business for over 50 years before stepping down from his |
| 16 | | bulldozer; in retirement, he enjoyed mowing every yard between |
| 17 | | his home and the highway; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Olin Cowser was a member of United Church of |
| 19 | | Woodhull; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Olin Cowser enjoyed attending family gatherings, |
| 21 | | spending time with his many friends over coffee or cards, |
