SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Gene Pool Marlin of Chatham, who 
4passed away on July 17, 2023; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Gene Marlin was born in Heralds Prairie Township 
6to Charles and Doris
Lucille (Pool) Marlin on September 18, 
71941; he married Carol Ann (Broaddus) Marlin on January 1, 
81982; he received an honorable discharge from the United 
9States Marine Corps; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Gene Marlin had a career with the Illinois State 
11Police that spanned three decades; he served as a trooper and 
12earned promotion through several ranks and positions; after 36 
13years of service, he retired as director of
the Illinois State 
14Police; and
  
 
  
15    WHEREAS, Gene Marlin was preceded in death by his wife, 
16Carol, and his parents; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Gene Marlin is survived by his sons, Douglas 
18(Angie) Marlin and Christopher (Maggie) Weidler; his daughter, 
19Brenda Jo Marlin-Miller; his grandchildren, Rachel (fiancé,

20Dan) Marlin, Brett (Maycee) Marlin, Blake (fiancé, Jazmine) 
21Marlin, Lilly and Molly Weidler, Dylan (fiancé, Becca) Miller,

Wyatt Miller; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Gene Pool Marlin and extend our sincere condolences to his 
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
6further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to  the family of  Gene Marlin as an expression of our 
9deepest sympathy.
