SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Danny Duwayne Dawson Sr., who passed 
4away on June 8, 2023; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Danny Dawson was born to Wayne and Dorothy (Kent) 
6Dawson in Fort Hood, Texas on May 23, 1952; he married 
7Charlotte Marie Holocker on January 23, 1971; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Danny Dawson's career spanned many avenues, 
9including working at a Shell gas station, Hyster, Iron's 
10Concrete, and Caterpillar; he then joined the U.S. Navy, where 
11he served on the USS Iowa (BB-61) and was a member of the Iowa 
12Plank Owners Association; he left the Navy after  over 13 years 
13of service; he then became a driver for Star Transport, 
14retiring in 2010; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Danny Dawson will be remembered for his amazing 
16sense of humor, his generous and giving heart, and the love he 
17had for his family; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Danny Dawson was preceded in death by his father 
19and his sister, Sharon Crabel; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Danny Dawson is survived by his wife of 52 years,

1Charlotte; his children, Danny Duwayne (Mabel) Dawson Jr., 
2Douglas Eugene  (Tina) Dawson, and David Wayne  (Samantha) 
3Dawson; his brothers, Don (Julie) Dawson and Rich (Lorie) 
4Dawson; his sister, Kim (Dennis) Matthews; his brother-in-law, 
5Sid Crabel; his nine grandchildren; and his five 
6great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

9Danny Duwayne Dawson Sr. and extend our sincere
condolences to 
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it 
11further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

13presented to the family of Danny Dawson as an expression of
our 
14deepest sympathy.
