| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of James A. "Jim" Cummins of Eldorado, |
| 4 | | who passed away on May 1, 2023; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Cummins was born to Raymond "Red" and Opal |
| 6 | | Cummins on August 2, 1952; he married Connie on June 8, 1974; |
| 7 | | and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Jim Cummins worked as a lab manager in |
| 9 | | surrounding coal mines; after 40 years of service, he retired |
| 10 | | from coal company SGS in 2017; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Jim Cummins enjoyed playing guitar, going on |
| 12 | | trips to the farm, and taking yearly summer vacations with his |
| 13 | | grandchildren; he loved spending time outdoors, and he was a |
| 14 | | craftsman and an outstanding woodcarver; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Jim Cummins was devoted to his wife, and their |
| 16 | | marriage was strong, admirable, and true; he taught his |
| 17 | | daughters the importance of looking up at the stars; most |
| 18 | | importantly, he always encouraged his family to take time and |
| 19 | | enjoy the little things; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Jim Cummins is survived by his wife of 48 years, |
