SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Melvin Leon "Trés" Lightford III, who 
4passed away on May 7, 2023; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Trés Lightford was born to Sonya Welch-Lightford 
6and Melvin Leon Lightford Jr. on March 6, 2020; he was strong, 
7resilient, and ready to leave a huge impact not only on his 
8family but also the entire world; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Trés Lightford possessed a beautiful smile and a 
10calming energy; he was affectionately called by many 
11nicknames, including "Teddy T" and "Snap"; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Trés Lightford was planned, prayed for, and 
13cherished; he was showered in hugs and kisses throughout his 
14life and  had a deep and unbreakable bond with his sisters; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Trés Lightford's legacy is one of love; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Trés Lightford is survived by his grandad, Melvin 
17L. Lightford Sr.; his grandma, Barbara A. Lightford; his 
18sisters, Samaya A.  Lightford, Aniya S. Lightford, and Sabrina 
19V. Lightford; his niece, Laya Saulsbury; his nephew, D'Angelo 
20Lightford; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and family

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Melvin Leon "Trés" LightFord III and extend our sincere 
5condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
6him; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to  the family of  Trés Lightford as an expression of 
9our deepest sympathy.
