| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Melvin Leon "Trés" Lightford III, who |
| 4 | | passed away on May 7, 2023; and

| 5 | | WHEREAS, Trés Lightford was born to Sonya Welch-Lightford |
| 6 | | and Melvin Leon Lightford Jr. on March 6, 2020; he was strong, |
| 7 | | resilient, and ready to leave a huge impact not only on his |
| 8 | | family but also the entire world; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Trés Lightford possessed a beautiful smile and a |
| 10 | | calming energy; he was affectionately called by many |
| 11 | | nicknames, including "Teddy T" and "Snap"; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Trés Lightford was planned, prayed for, and |
| 13 | | cherished; he was showered in hugs and kisses throughout his |
| 14 | | life and had a deep and unbreakable bond with his sisters; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Trés Lightford's legacy is one of love; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Trés Lightford is survived by his grandad, Melvin |
| 17 | | L. Lightford Sr.; his grandma, Barbara A. Lightford; his |
| 18 | | sisters, Samaya A. Lightford, Aniya S. Lightford, and Sabrina |
| 19 | | V. Lightford; his niece, Laya Saulsbury; his nephew, D'Angelo |
| 20 | | Lightford; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and family |
