SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Kenneth C. "Ken" Etcheson of Canton, 
4who passed away on April 7, 2023; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken Etcheson was born to Raymond and Rosetta 
6(Evans) Etcheson in Bainbridge, Indiana on August 5, 1925; he 
7served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1951, where he was 
8stationed in San Diego, California; he married Rosemarie 
9Dickson in Long Beach, California on March 9, 1946, and she 
10preceded him in death in 2005; he graduated from Wabash 
11College and earned his master's degree in hospital 
12administration from the University of Iowa in 1955; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Ken Etcheson worked as hospital administrator and 
14CEO for the Graham Hospital Association from 1959 to 1990, 
15where he was known as "Mr. E."; he was a member of the American 
16College of Hospital Administrators; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Ken Etcheson was active in the Rotary Club of 
18Canton and served on the Parlin Ingersoll Library's Board of 
19Trustees in Canton; he was a longtime member of the Wesley 
20United Methodist Church of Canton and also attended the First 
21Christian Church of Canton; and

1    WHEREAS, Ken Etcheson loved spending time outdoors and 
2working in his yard; he enjoyed alpine hiking, skiing, and 
3mountain climbing with his family; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Ken Etcheson was preceded in death by his parents 
5and two brothers, Warren and Gerald; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Ken Etcheson is survived by his sibling, Thursa 
7Evens; his children, Steven Etcheson, Craig (Mychelle 
8Balthazard) Etcheson, and Chris (Kimberly) Etcheson; his 
9grandchild, Erin Etcheson; and his companion of many years, 
10Wanda Carmack; therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
13Kenneth C. "Ken" Etcheson and extend our sincere condolences 
14to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be 
15it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17presented to the family of Ken Etcheson as an expression of our 
18deepest sympathy.
