SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 
3congratulate the Simeon Career Academy boys basketball team, 
4the Wolverines, on winning the Chicago Public League 
5championship; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Wolverines claimed their eighth city title on 
7February 11, 2023 with a thrilling 72 to 64 overtime victory 
8over Kenwood Academy in the Chicago Public League Tournament 
9championship game at Credit Union 1 Arena; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The Wolverines led by 20 points entering the 
11fourth quarter before Kenwood Academy surged back to tie the 
12game and send it to overtime; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The Wolverines dominated the overtime period by 
14outscoring Kenwood Academy 10 to 2; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The Wolverines'  next goal was to win another 
16state championship, but after a hard fought title game, they 
17ended their season with  a 46 to 42 overtime loss to Metamora 
18Township High School; therefore, be it

  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the

1Simeon Career Academy boys basketball team, the Wolverines, on 
2winning the Chicago Public League championship, and we wish 
3them many more successful seasons; and be it further
