SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Melissa Leigh "Missy" McDermott of 
4Berwyn, who passed away on April 4, 2023; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Missy McDermott was born to John Richard "Dick" 
6and Marian Neerman McDermott in Springfield on December 3, 
71964; she graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and the 
8University of Illinois at Springfield; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Missy McDermott retired from the State of 
10Illinois after 30 years of service on March 31, 2020; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Missy McDermott was an avid fan of the Fighting 
12Illini sports teams and the Chicago White Sox; she enjoyed 
13sports talk radio, 80s classic rock, backyard barbecues, a 
14good dive bar, breakfast club, reality TV, long walks on the 
15beach, tennis, and the Florida sun in the winter; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Missy McDermott is survived by her longtime 
17companion, Michael Joseph "Mike" Ridge; her siblings, John 
18Richard (Barb) McDermott Jr., Michael Edward "Muggs" (Denise) 
19McDermott, Kevin Neerman McDermott, Martha Louise "Cooky" 
20McDermott, Maureen Lynn "Bubby" (Travis) Wayne, and John Peter 
21"Pete" McDermott; her several nieces and nephews, Jennifer

8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
10Melissa Leigh "Missy" McDermott and extend our sincere 
11condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
12her; and be it further
  
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to the family of Missy McDermott as an expression of 
15our deepest sympathy.
