| 6 | fibrillation, stroke, and, in rare cases, sudden cardiac | ||||||
| 7 | death; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, HCM is the most common inheritable heart disease | ||||||

| 3 | symptoms of HCM are important first steps in receiving an | ||||||
| 4 | accurate diagnosis of HCM; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, A healthcare provider must conduct a thorough | ||||||
| 6 | screening with cardiac health questions to help identify a | ||||||
| 7 | risk of both genetic and congenital cardiac disorders; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, A healthcare provider may conduct several tests, | ||||||
| 9 | including an echocardiogram, a cardiac MRI, or genetic | ||||||
| 10 | testing, to confirm a family history of HCM and must examine | ||||||
| 11 | the heart to diagnose HCM; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Following a diagnosis of HCM, it is important for | ||||||
| 13 | patients to work with their healthcare provider to learn more | ||||||
| 14 | about their disease and understand different management | ||||||
| 15 | options, including prescription medicines and surgical | ||||||
| 16 | treatment options that may help; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, The fourth Wednesday in February is an | ||||||
