| 1 | | AN ACT concerning government.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971 |
| 5 | | is amended by adding Section 6.11D as follows:

| 6 | | (5 ILCS 375/6.11D new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 6.11D. Coverage for treatments to slow the |
| 8 | | progression of Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias. |
| 9 | | Beginning on July 1, 2025, the State Employees Group Insurance |
| 10 | | Program shall provide coverage for all medically necessary |
| 11 | | FDA-approved treatments or medications prescribed to slow the |
| 12 | | progression of Alzheimer's Disease or another related |
| 13 | | dementia, as determined by a physician licensed to practice |
| 14 | | medicine in all its branches. Coverage for all FDA-approved |
| 15 | | treatments or medications prescribed to slow the progression |
| 16 | | of Alzheimer's Disease or another related dementia shall not |
| 17 | | be subject to step therapy. Any diagnostic testing necessary |
| 18 | | for a physician to determine appropriate use of these |
| 19 | | treatments or medications shall be covered by the State |
| 20 | | Employees Group Insurance Program. |
