| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 | | 6-19 as follows:
|

| 7 | | Sec. 6-19. Vacancy on regional board. Any Subject to the |
| 8 | | residency provisions in Section 6-2 of this Code, any vacancy |
| 9 | | on the regional board of school trustees shall be filled from |
| 10 | | the same territory by the remaining members until the next |
| 11 | | regular election for members of the regional board of school |
| 12 | | trustees, when the vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired |
| 13 | | time. A vacancy shall be subject to the residency provisions |
| 14 | | in Section 6-2 of this Code unless the vacancy occurs in a |
| 15 | | single county educational service region. If a vacancy occurs |
| 16 | | in a single county educational service region, then the |
| 17 | | vacancy may be filled by a person who is a resident of a |
| 18 | | congressional township not represented on the board. Removal |
| 19 | | of a member from the township from which such member was |
| 20 | | elected into a township which has its quota of members on the |
| 21 | | board shall constitute a vacancy. |
