| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to honor our colleague, State |
| 4 | | Representative Lance Yednock, on his six years of service as a |
| 5 | | member of the Illinois General Assembly and thank him for his |
| 6 | | dedication to the State and his community; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Prior to being elected to the General Assembly, |
| 8 | | Rep. Yednock worked as a heavy equipment operator for more |
| 9 | | than 20 years, and in 2012, he became a business agent and |
| 10 | | executive board member of International Union of Operating |
| 11 | | Engineers Local 150; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Yednock earned his Bachelor of Arts in |
| 13 | | Political Science from Northern Illinois University in 1994 |
| 14 | | and serves as a member of the Northern Illinois University |
| 15 | | Caucus; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Yednock, known in the state and among |
| 17 | | friends as a curling champion, is a lifelong resident of the |
| 18 | | Illinois River Valley and currently lives in Ottawa; he has |
| 19 | | worked tirelessly during his time in office to ensure all of |
| 20 | | his communities' needs were heard and addressed; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Yednock is an example of dedication to one's |

| 1 | | community; he listened to his constituents and did not let |
| 2 | | good ideas go to waste, frequently filing bills on their |
| 3 | | behalf to address issues that needed attention; working with |
| 4 | | sportsmen in his community, he passed legislation that allowed |
| 5 | | deer hunters to use single shot rifles, bringing Illinois in |
| 6 | | line with surrounding states, and he removed barriers hunters |
| 7 | | had to face to join the sport; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Yednock is a strong supporter of workers' |
| 9 | | rights and collective bargaining, as demonstrated through both |
| 10 | | his legislation and his own life as part of IUOE Local 150; he |
| 11 | | passed legislation guaranteeing the right to collectively |
| 12 | | bargain and also helped pass the Workers' Rights Amendment to |
| 13 | | the State Constitution; he also worked to pass a bill that gave |
| 14 | | workers more protections from their employers when striking |
| 15 | | and fought to keep unions protected from people who would seek |
| 16 | | to disrupt their strikes; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Yednock was elected by the Moderate Caucus |
| 18 | | to serve as chair in 2023, and during his time as chair, he |
| 19 | | showed the willingness and commitment to reach across the |
| 20 | | aisle and advance legislation in a bipartisan manner, and he |
| 21 | | and his colleagues kept in mind the values of compromise and |
| 22 | | good faith debate to ensure all public policy was robust and |
| 23 | | scrutinized; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Yednock served as chairman of the Veterans |
| 2 | | Affairs Committee and oversaw the passage of bills that made |
| 3 | | it less costly for disabled veterans to build accommodations |
| 4 | | to their homes and bills that will ensure veterans are better |
| 5 | | respected and cared for by the State; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Yednock paved the way for SMRs, otherwise |
| 7 | | known as small modular nuclear reactors to be built in |
| 8 | | Illinois, which will allow for the state to develop a new |
| 9 | | generation of nuclear energy technology that will enable our |
| 10 | | State to move evermore towards our goal of lower costs for |
| 11 | | everyday Illinoisans, as well as, a green energy future; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Yednock has become a member who is respected |
| 13 | | on both sides of the aisle; he is known for his willingness to |
| 14 | | listen to both sides, his reliability in showing up on time, |
| 15 | | and his commitment to listening to all stakeholders and |
| 16 | | tackling difficult issues with humility and respect; |
| 17 | | therefore, be it |
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 19 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 20 | | we congratulate State Rep. Lance Yednock on his retirement |
| 21 | | from the Illinois House of Representatives, thank him for his |
| 22 | | six years of dedicated service to the people of Illinois, and |
| 23 | | wish him the best in the next chapter of his life; and be it |
