HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Olga Nuņez-Johnson from 
4Thomas J. Waters Elementary School in Chicago on being awarded 
5the prestigious Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching 
6from The Golden Apple Foundation on April 30, 2024; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Golden Apple Foundation is the leading 
8Illinois-based nonprofit committed to preparing, mentoring, 
9and honoring great educators who advance educational 
10opportunities for students, and its mission is to inspire, 
11develop, and support teacher and school leader excellence; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching 
13honors outstanding teachers who have made lasting, positive 
14effects on students' lives and school communities; and
 
15    WHEREAS, After a highly competitive process, Olga 
16Nuņez-Johnson was selected as one of 10 teacher award 
17recipients in Illinois; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Olga Nuņez-Johnson prioritizes her students' 
19needs, fostering a supportive and purposeful student-centered 
20environment as she embodies the principles of love, care, and 
21hope in teaching, and she has left a lasting impression on

1generations of students who fondly recall her influence on 
2their educational journeys; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5we congratulate Olga Nuņez-Johnson on being awarded the 
6prestigious Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching from 
7The Golden Apple Foundation; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
9presented to Olga Nuņez-Johnson and Thomas J. Waters 
10Elementary School.
