HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Leyden Fire Protection District (LFPD) on the occasion of its 75th anniversary while providing outstanding service and dedication to Leyden Township; and

WHEREAS, The LFPD was established to create and offer fire protection services for the unincorporated area of Leyden Township on June 5, 1949; and

WHEREAS, In the beginning, the LFPD was located at the Belden Gas Station, possessed one Darley engine, and its firefighting personnel were summoned by three sirens or by telephone; and

WHEREAS, The LFPD's volunteer firefighters built the original fire station at 10628 Grand Avenue in 1950 and established the first ambulance service for the unincorporated area in 1951; and

WHEREAS, Now operating out of a station located at 2600 North Mannheim Road, the LFPD utilizes state-of-the-art Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and fire equipment, tools, and training; and

WHEREAS, Today, under the leadership of Fire Chief Dr. Brenda K. Farlow, the LFPD consists of a highly skilled crew of nine career firefighters cross-trained as paramedics and three lieutenants, two quint fire trucks, and two ambulances that can be reached immediately 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 911; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Leyden Fire Protection District (LFPD) on providing 75 years of outstanding service and dedication to Leyden Township, and we commend its board of trustees and all those who have served the LFPD so courageously since its inception; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Leyden Fire Protection District as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
