HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Masterworks Chorale 
4on the occasion of its 50th season; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The Masterworks Chorale is an ensemble that 
6enriches the cultural environment of the Metro East region 
7with outstanding performances of significant choral 
8literature, with membership representing a six-county area in 
9Illinois and Missouri and including a wide variety of 
10professions and musical backgrounds; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Since its founding by Dr. A. Dennis Sparger in 
121974, the Masterworks Chorale's mission has been to provide an 
13opportunity to perform and promote quality choral music for 
14the benefit of the Metro East community and region; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Masterworks Chorale has promoted, encouraged, 
16and fostered cultural and educational activities which 
17establish and maintain a tradition of choral excellence and 
18provide an opportunity for adults to enhance their personal 
19growth through continuing instruction and new vocal musical 
20experiences; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, The Masterworks Chorale sponsors the Masterworks

1Children's Chorus which shares the same musical objectives of 
2a disciplined and professional approach, providing an 
3opportunity for children to receive instruction designed to 
4develop their vocal musical abilities and foster cultural 
5appreciation; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Masterworks Chorale meets its mission by 
7presenting several concerts each year and by participating in 
8major community arts events; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Under its artistic director and conductor, Dr. 
10Stephen Mager, the Masterworks Chorale  is devoting the 
112023-2024 season to the celebration of its 50th season; 
12therefore, be it
  
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
14HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
15we congratulate the Masterworks Chorale on its 50th season, 
16and we wish the ensemble continued success in the future; and 
17be it further
  
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19presented to the Masterworks Chorale as an expression of our 
20esteem and respect.
