| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ramona |
| 4 | | Lisa Wilson Mahoney, who passed away on April 3, 2023; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney was born to Nevin and Evelyn |
| 6 | | Wilson on the north side of Chicago on June 26, 1960; she lived |
| 7 | | in Cabrini-Greens before moving to Chicago's south side as a |
| 8 | | child; she attended Burnside Elementary School and Chicago |
| 9 | | Vocational High School; she briefly attended Northwestern |
| 10 | | Business College; she married Clarence Mahoney on April 24, |
| 11 | | 1991; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney was a woman of many talents and |
| 13 | | held several jobs throughout her life, including as a clerk |
| 14 | | for Carson Pirie Scott & Company and Illinois Bell, an |
| 15 | | information specialist for RTA Travel Information, a customer |
| 16 | | service/account representative for Highland Superstores, an |
| 17 | | attendance clerk for Myra Bradwell Academy, a patient |
| 18 | | assistant for the Department of Human Services, a cashier/cook |
| 19 | | for White Castle, and a para-transit driver for Cook/DuPage |
| 20 | | Transportation Services; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney was a daughter, sister, wife, |
| 22 | | mother, and friend, titles she valued above all; she treated |
|

| 1 | | everyone's children as her own, maintaining many of those |
| 2 | | relationships until her passing; her favorite yearly event was |
| 3 | | the family picnic, as she loved seeing family and friends come |
| 4 | | together for laughter, fun, games, and breaking bread over a |
| 5 | | great meal; she was famous for her spaghetti and taco salad; |
| 6 | | and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney loved family, people, and animals; |
| 8 | | she also loved listening to music, dancing, playing cards, |
| 9 | | solving crossword puzzles, watching action movies and sports, |
| 10 | | and spending time outdoors to experience the fresh air and the |
| 11 | | smell of fresh flowers; she greatly enjoyed attending concerts |
| 12 | | of all music genres, sporting events, comedy shows, and other |
| 13 | | types of cultural events; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney was affectionately known as "Moe |
| 15 | | Moe", "Moe", and "MaMoe"; she will be remembered for her |
| 16 | | gentle spirit and her ability to quickly put others at ease; |
| 17 | | and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney was preceded in death by parents, |
| 19 | | her husband, and her sister, Lorna; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney is survived by her daughters, |
| 21 | | Clarissa, Carla, and Angela; her grandchildren, Tavaris "TJ" |
| 22 | | Jr., Raniyah, and Richard "Richie" III; her sisters, Charmaine |

| 1 | | and Rochelle; her brothers, Lamar (Marty), Chelsey, and Andre |
| 2 | | (Jennifer); her aunt, Lela Pierce; her uncle, Cleveland |
| 3 | | Pierce; her godson, Chance McIntosh; and a host of nieces, |
| 4 | | nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
|
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 6 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 7 | | we mourn the passing of Ramona Lisa Wilson Mahoney and extend |
| 8 | | our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who |
| 9 | | knew and loved her; and be it further

| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 11 | | presented to the family of Ramona Mahoney as an expression of |
| 12 | | our deepest sympathy.
