HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General 
3Assembly pays honor and respect to those who have served our 
4country and, in doing so, have made the ultimate sacrifice for 
5our nation; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class Ogden Neil Thompson of 
7Aurora served with the U.S. Army as a member of Company G, 2nd 
8Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division; and
 
9    WHEREAS, SFC Thompson was listed as Missing in Action 
10while fighting the enemy near Unsan, North Korea on November 
111, 1950; and
 
12    WHEREAS, SFC Thompson was presumed dead on December 31, 
131953; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
15HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE 
16SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Route 25 in Aurora 
17from Sullivan Road to Ashland Avenue as the "SFC Ogden N. 
18Thompson Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation 
20is requested to erect, at suitable locations consistent with

1State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs 
2giving notice of the name "SFC Ogden N. Thompson Memorial 
3Highway"; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
5presented to the family of SFC Thompson, Aurora Mayor Richard 
6Irvin, and the Secretary of the Illinois Department of 
7Transportation.
