| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 61 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (5 ILCS 490/61 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 61. John Lewis Day. The twenty-first day of February |
| 8 | | of each year shall be known as John Lewis Day, to be observed |
| 9 | | throughout the State as a day to remember the accomplishments |
| 10 | | of the civil rights icon and to honor his legacy and dedication |
| 11 | | to public service. |
