| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 197 as follows:

| 6 | | (5 ILCS 490/197 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 197. Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The month of |
| 8 | | October of each year is designated as Domestic Violence |
| 9 | | Awareness Month to be observed throughout the State as a month |
| 10 | | set apart to promote awareness of domestic violence and to |
| 11 | | support advocacy activities that will reduce its prevalence in |
| 12 | | the State. |
