| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2392 by replacing |
| 3 | | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| 4 | | "Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 24-3.5 as follows: |
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/24-3.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 24-3.5. Attendance for federal advocacy work. Any |
| 8 | | teacher who is a member of a statewide association |
| 9 | | representing teachers and who is elected by the association's |
| 10 | | membership to represent the association in federal advocacy |
| 11 | | work may spend up to 10 days during a school term representing |
| 12 | | the association in federal advocacy work. No deduction of |
| 13 | | wages may be made for such absence, and the statewide |
| 14 | | association shall reimburse the employing school district for |
| 15 | | the cost of the need for a substitute teacher as the result of |
| 16 | | the teacher's absence.".
