| 6 | | "Section 83. The Emergency Telephone System Act is amended |
| 7 | | by changing Section 3 as follows:

| 11 | | Sec. 3. (a) By July 1, 2017, every local public agency |
| 12 | | shall be within the jurisdiction of a 9-1-1 system. |
| 13 | | (b) Within 18 months of the awarding of a contract to a |
| 14 | | vendor certified under Section 13-900 of the Public Utilities |
| 15 | | Act to provide Next Generation 9-1-1 service, every 9-1-1 |
| 16 | | system in Illinois, except in a municipality with a population |

| 1 | | over 500,000, shall provide Next Generation 9-1-1 service. A |
| 2 | | municipality with a population over 500,000 shall provide Next |
| 3 | | Generation 9-1-1 service by January 1, 2026 December 31, 2023. |
| 4 | | (c) Nothing in this Act shall be construed to prohibit or |
| 5 | | discourage in any way the formation of multijurisdictional or |
| 6 | | regional systems, and any system established pursuant to this |
| 7 | | Act may include the territory of more than one public agency or |
| 8 | | may include a segment of the territory of a public agency. |
