| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of James "Jim" R. Rice of Andalusia, who |
| 4 | | passed away on November 20, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Rice was born to William and Juanita (Henson) |
| 6 | | Rice in Elderd on May 8, 1940; he served in the U. S. Army from |
| 7 | | 1962 to 1965; he married Sharon Laing at Red Oak Presbyterian |
| 8 | | Church in Tipton, Iowa on May 21, 1966; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Jim Rice worked in various capacities for John |
| 10 | | Deere over 35 years, including landscaping and production at |
| 11 | | Harvester Works; he was also a talented handyman and a trained |
| 12 | | locksmith; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Jim Rice truly enjoyed working outside, tinkering |
| 14 | | with things, golfing, and fishing, as well as his bowling |
| 15 | | league; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Jim Rice was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church |
| 17 | | in Rock Island for over 50 years; he was very active in his |
| 18 | | church, serving as a deacon, an Awana leader, and a trustee |
| 19 | | over the years; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Jim Rice was preceded in death by his parents and |
