| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Arnold M. "Arnie" Bochum Jr. of South |
| 4 | | Elgin, who passed away on July 13, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Arnie Bochum was born in Elgin to Arnold M. and |
| 6 | | Amy J. (Darin) Bochum Sr. on April 14, 1934; he was a lifelong |
| 7 | | resident of Elgin and South Elgin; he was active in scouting |
| 8 | | and achieved Eagle Scout status, earning 36 merit badges with |
| 9 | | Troop 10; he graduated from Elgin High School in 1952, where he |
| 10 | | played baseball, basketball, and percussion in the marching |
| 11 | | band; he served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Prior to his retirement, Arnie Bochum worked for |
| 13 | | the Village of South Elgin as a police officer and for the |
| 14 | | Railway Express Agency, Sheldon Manufacturing, the Elgin |
| 15 | | Sweeper Co., and Roberts Express as an OTR driver; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Arnie Bochum was a life member of VFW Post 2327 of |
| 17 | | South Elgin, where he served as a two-term commander in 1991 |
| 18 | | and 2003 and as a color guard commander for 20 years; in |
| 19 | | addition, he was a Democratic precinct committeeman for many |
| 20 | | years; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Arnie Bochum was preceded in death by his |
