SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harrison Lee "Bud" Johnson, who passed away on January 12, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Bud Johnson was born on May 4, 1988; he attended Saint Sabina Academy from 1991 to 2002; while attending Leo Catholic High School, he played center on the varsity football team and often volunteered as the statistician for basketball games and during practices; he also received a perfect score in his Industrial Art class for his ability to construct a functional HVAC system; he graduated in May 2006; and

WHEREAS, Bud Johnson worked as a camp counselor at The ARK of Sabina during the summer of 2002, where he was recognized for his intuitive and gentle nature; he made his decisions from the heart and absolutely loved working with kids; and

WHEREAS, Bud Johnson was a protective, tender, and quick-witted jokester who lived bravely with mental illness; he made friends easily and had an undying love for his family; and

WHEREAS, Bud Johnson is survived by his mother, Katrice M. Kendall; his grandfather, Henry M. Kendall; his aunts, Rhonda and Carla Kendall; his first cousins, Aaron Kendall, Vermail Price, John Sellers, Cyria Sansom, Darius Hillery, and Meshelle Washington; his second cousins, Vahlana Kendall, Rayowa Hillery, Monroe Thompson Jr., and Vania Kendall; his sister, Angela Davis; and his nephew, Ashton Watkins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harrison Lee "Bud" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bud Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
