SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph "Joe" Kline of rural Cordova, who passed away on February 2, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Joe Kline was born to Ferdinand and Harriet (Druehl) Kline in Moline on August 12, 1932; he graduated from Cordova High School in 1950 and attended Northern State Teachers College for one year; he married Joyce Forsythe at her home in rural Cordova on June 14, 1952; he was drafted into the United States Army in 1953 and served in Korea until being honorably discharged in 1954 with the rank of Staff Sergeant; and

WHEREAS, Joe Kline was a lifelong farmer in Coe Township; and

WHEREAS, Joe Kline and his wife volunteered with Pathway Hospice for over 10 years; he was a former Boy Scout Master, coached Little League Baseball, and served as a volunteer fireman with the Cordova Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, Joe Kline was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in rural Port Byron, American Legion Post #1033, and the Illinois Farm Bureau and was a former member of the Cordova Lions Club; and

WHEREAS, Joe Kline enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing, boating, and mowing; and

WHEREAS, Joe Kline was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers, Robert, Merton, and John; and

WHEREAS, Joe Kline is survived by his wife; three children, Lawrence (Gay) Kline, Mary (Steve) Rupe, and Charles (Tammy) Kline; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; his sister, Joyce (Jim) Piatt; his sister-in-law, Pat Morthland; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joseph "Joe" Kline and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joe Kline as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
