SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Lois R. "Bert" Simmons of Marine, who 
4passed away on September 07, 2021; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Lois Simmons was born to Robert and Grace (Davis) 
6Painter in Litchfield on April 4, 1938; she was raised in 
7Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School; she 
8married Howard L. Simmons in Litchfield on November 20, 1954; 
9together, they lived in Litchfield, St. Louis, Edwardsville, 
10and Marine, where they spent a majority of their lives, before 
11he preceded her in death on August 6, 2008; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Lois Simmons was the co-owner of the B & G Market 
13in Marine for over 20 years; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Alongside her husband, Lois Simmons supervised 
15the  Christmas lights in the Marine Park for many years; she 
16also volunteered and helped manage the Charles Gravius Library 
17in Marine; she enjoyed camping, spending time with her 
18grandchildren, and being with her family and friends; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Lois Simmons was preceded in death by her 
20parents; her husband, Howard L. Simmons; her son, Darren R. 
21Simmons; her grandchild, Tad Daniel Simmons; and her sisters,

1Joyce McNeal and Christine M. Higgins; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, Lois Simmons is survived by her daughters, Linda 
3K. (Vernon) Uhe and Kelly L. (Kent) Frey; her sons, Dennis H. 
4(Karen) Simmons and Daniel L. Simmons (Rhonda Krekovich); her 
5daughter-in-law, Kristie Simmons; her grandchildren, Shanna 
6Uhe (fiancé, John Lopez), Crystal Uhe, Kevin Frey (fiancée, 
7Kailey Zajac), Jenna (Ryan) Boxell, Morgan (Brent) Phelps, 
8Brian (Coren) Simmons, Dusty (Natalie) Simmons, Kristy Frey, 
9Paige Simmons, and Allie Simmons; her great-grandchildren, 
10Scott Phelps, Breckin Simmons, Corbyn Boxell, Beckett Simmons, 
11Taylor Phelps, Xander Boxell, and Ridge Simmons; therefore, be 
12it
  
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL 
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
15Lois R. "Bert" Simmons and extend our sincere condolences to 
16her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it

18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19presented to the family of Lois Simmons as an expression of our 
20deepest sympathy.
