SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Don Lewis Fritson of Normal, who passed away on May 6, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Don Fritson was born to Christina and George Fritson in Franklin, Nebraska on November 26, 1936; he graduated from Franklin High School; he earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska where he was a member of the Beta Sigma Psi Fraternity; he was a corpsman in the Navy and served in Japan; he was then transferred as a corpsman to the Marines and worked at a radiation lab in San Francisco; he married Veralu "Lou" Meyer on April 23, 1966; and

WHEREAS, In 1964, Don Fritson began his 36-year career with State Farm Insurance Company at the regional office in Lincoln, Nebraska before he was transferred to the Bloomington, Illinois home office; and

WHEREAS, Don Fritson was known for his great smile and his sense of humor; he wasn't a man of stories but of one-liners; he enjoyed his travels but was not a vacationer, as he liked to continually be "on the go"; since 2001, he was lucky enough to be able to spend his winters at his home in Green Valley, Arizona; he had a deep faith and especially enjoyed sharing his love of a good meal with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Don Fritson was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael; and his brother, Lavon Fritson; and

WHEREAS, Don Fritson is survived by his wife; his daughter, Amy (David) Fritson Coffman; his granddaughter, Anna Mireya Coffman; and his extended family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Don Lewis Fritson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Don Fritson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
