HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Hagen's Fish Market on 
4the occasion of its 75th anniversary; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Hagen's Fish Market was founded in 1946 when the 
6two Hagen brothers and their wives opened the market with the 
7assistance of seed money from their fisherman father; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The Hagen family dedicated long hours to 
9establishing a business that would grow along with the 
10burgeoning Jefferson Park and Portage Park Neighborhoods; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Renowned for its quality and family-friendly 
12approach, the second generation of the Hagen family  expanded 
13the selection of fish at the market by securing fresh fish 
14directly from the East Coast several times a week; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, In addition, the Hagen family developed delicious 
16new recipes that have become community favorites, such as 
17Charlene's Crab Dip; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Hagen's Fish Market delivers a unique taste 
19experience for its customers by still operating one of the 
20last surviving natural wood smokehouses in Chicago; and

1    WHEREAS, Today, two Hagen granddaughters and their 
2husbands continue the family tradition of delivering fresh, 
3quality meals to the residents of Chicago; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Hagen's Fish Market remains a staple of the 
5Jefferson Park and Portage Park Neighborhoods and a testament 
6to the value of quality, family-owned businesses; therefore, 
7be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
9HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
10we congratulate Hagen's Fish Market on its 75th anniversary, 
11thank the Hagen family for their work in the community, and 
12wish them many more successful years; and be it further
  
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to Hagen's Fish Market as a symbol of our esteem and 
15respect.
