| 2 | | WHEREAS, James "Jim" Michael Gainer, second child and |
| 3 | | second son born to Francis and Mary Gainer at Little Company of |
| 4 | | Mary Hospital, is celebrating his 80th year of life on May |
| 5 | | 20th, 2021; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Jim Gainer has affectionately been referred to as |
| 7 | | son, brother, husband, uncle, father, friend, patrolman, |
| 8 | | officer, sergeant, Seamus, Mr. Gainer, bingo police, and Gymm |
| 9 | | during the course of the last of the last 80 years; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jim Gainer was educated in the Catholic |
| 11 | | traditions, under the tutelage of the Sisters of Notre Dame at |
| 12 | | Saint Margaret of Scotland, graduating in 1955, the |
| 13 | | Augustinians at Mendel Catholic High School, graduating in |
| 14 | | 1959, and the Sisters of Mercy at Saint Xavier University, |
| 15 | | graduating on May 22, 1985; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, On October 1, 1963, Jim Gainer was hired by the |
| 17 | | Chicago Police Department to serve as a patrolman; he was |
| 18 | | assigned to the Crime Lab in March of 1967; by the time he |
| 19 | | retired on June 22, 1996, he was the chief firearms examiner of |
| 20 | | the Chicago Crime Lab; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, On July 3, 1996, Jim Gainer was hired by the |

| 1 | | Illinois State Police as head of Forensics; he retired from |
| 2 | | the Illinois State Police Department on July 5, 2000; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, On April 29th, 1966, Jim Gainer had the good |
| 4 | | sense to ask Anne Therese Keane to be his bride; on September |
| 5 | | 10, 1966, he made good on that promise with the blessings of |
| 6 | | Father John Keane; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, From 1967 to 1975, Jim Gainer became a loving |
| 8 | | father and mentor to Katie, Jimmy, Julie, Mike and Moira; from |
| 9 | | 1993 to 2001, he became father-in-law to Pat, Sue, Jen, Katy, |
| 10 | | and Clayton; from 1997 to 2011, he became Papa to Nellie, Jake, |
| 11 | | Mati, Ben, Emma, Mia, JP, Quinn, Macayla, Shea, and Griff; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Jim Gainer, in a quest for a balanced life and |
| 13 | | with a thirst for learning, pursued and mastered many hobbies, |
| 14 | | including but not limited to running, fishing, hunting, |
| 15 | | bagpipes, darts, photography, carpentry, scuba diving, |
| 16 | | camping, and collecting shot glasses from around the world; |
| 17 | | and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, For the last 80 years, Jim Gainer has lived a life |
| 19 | | of service to his community and country by being trustworthy, |
| 20 | | curious, friendly, kind, loving, faithful, brave, funny, |
| 21 | | loyal, and wise; he has passed along skills, knowledge, |
| 22 | | respect, and love to the people he has met in his travels, and |
|

| 1 | | all are better from knowing him; therefore, be it
|
| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 3 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 4 | | we congratulate James "Jim" Michael Gainer on the occasion of |
| 5 | | his 80th Birthday and wish him many more years of health and |
| 6 | | happiness; and be it further
|
| 7 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this be presented to Jim |
| 8 | | Gainer as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
