| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to commend Hispanic Star Chicago for the |
| 4 | | organization's efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020; |
| 5 | | and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Hispanic Star Chicago is the Chicago hub of the |
| 7 | | national organization Hispanic Star, which is a collective |
| 8 | | effort to unify Hispanics and bring solutions that help them |
| 9 | | overcome barriers they face through leading companies, |
| 10 | | Hispanic organizations, and community leaders joining together |
| 11 | | to provide relief to people in need, opportunities, career |
| 12 | | development, and support for families; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Hispanic Star Chicago, under the leadership of |
| 14 | | the Chicago HUB Leader and Ambassadors, rallied the community |
| 15 | | to help Hispanic families struggling financially during the |
| 16 | | COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 by raising $20,000 to bring a |
| 17 | | truck-load full of food to Chicago, which was then distributed |
| 18 | | into 2,500 boxes to Latino families in need in the Chicago |
| 19 | | Neighborhoods who were the hardest hit by COVID-19; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Hispanic Star Chicago has assisted 10 Chicagoland |
| 21 | | communities, which were Belmont-Cragin, Little Village, West |
| 22 | | Lawn, Cicero, Back of the Yards, Humboldt Park, Mckinley Park, |
