| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Dennis Bergman on his | ||||||
| 4 | retirement as the village president of Lena after 16 years of | ||||||
| 5 | service; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Dennis Bergman was born to Harold and Esther | ||||||
| 7 | Bergman of Lena; he graduated from Lena-Winslow High School | ||||||
| 8 | and took classes at both Highland Community College and Rock | ||||||
| 9 | Valley Community College; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Dennis Bergman served as a member of the Lena | ||||||
| 11 | Volunteer Fire Department from 1978 until 2012; he served as | ||||||
| 12 | fire chief from 1994 until 2006 and is a past president of the | ||||||
| 13 | Stephenson County Fire Chief's Association; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Dennis Bergman began serving as a village trustee | ||||||
| 15 | in 1979 and served continuously until 1991; he was | ||||||
| 16 | subsequently elected as village president in 2005, a role in | ||||||
| 17 | which he served until 2021; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Dennis Bergman has been involved in numerous | ||||||
| 19 | civic activities that have greatly improved his community and | ||||||
| 20 | our region, including serving as a past board member of the | ||||||
| 21 | Stephenson County Chapter of the American Red Cross, as past | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | president of the Stephenson County Local Emergency Planning | ||||||
| 2 | Committee, on the Stephenson County Jail Advisory Committee, | ||||||
| 3 | on the Lena-Winslow School District Facility Planning | ||||||
| 4 | Committee, as a past member of the Lena Lion's Club, as past | ||||||
| 5 | president of the Lena-Winslow Sports Booster Club, and as a | ||||||
| 6 | board member of the Northwest Illinois Sports Hall of Fame | ||||||
| 7 | Committee; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, After retirement from public service, Dennis | ||||||
| 9 | Bergman looks forward to spending time with family and friends | ||||||
| 10 | and traveling; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 12 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 13 | we congratulate Dennis Bergman on the occasion of his | ||||||
| 14 | retirement as village president of Lena, thank him for his | ||||||
| 15 | many years of service to the people of Lena, Stephenson | ||||||
| 16 | County, and the State of Illinois, and wish him many happy and | ||||||
| 17 | healthy retirement years; and be it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to Dennis Bergman as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
| 20 | respect.
