Amends the Educator Licensure Article of the School Code. Requires the State Board of Education to establish a program to issue micro-credentials in fields of study related to an endorsement on a Professional Educator License. Requires the State Board to approve professional development providers to offer micro-credential courses. Provides that a micro-credential received by a licensee shall be entered into the Educator Licensure Information System and included as part of the licensee's public educator licensure records. Provides for rulemaking. Effective immediately.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 21B-120 as follows: |
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/21B-120 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 21B-120. Micro-credentials. |
| 8 | | (a) The State Board of Education shall establish a program |
| 9 | | to issue micro-credentials in fields of study related to an |
| 10 | | endorsement on a Professional Educator License. The State |
| 11 | | Board shall approve professional development providers to |
| 12 | | offer micro-credential courses. A micro-credential received by |
| 13 | | a licensee shall be entered into the Educator Licensure |
| 14 | | Information System and included as part of the licensee's |
| 15 | | public educator licensure records. |
| 16 | | (b) The State Board of Education may adopt any rules |
| 17 | | necessary to implement this Section, including rules regarding |
| 18 | | opportunities for licensees to receive micro-credentials in |
| 19 | | fields of study related to an endorsement on a Professional |
| 20 | | Educator License.

| 21 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 22 | | becoming law.
