| 1 | | AN ACT concerning State government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The General Assembly Operations Act is amended |
| 5 | | by adding Section 1.5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (25 ILCS 10/1.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 1.5. Term limits for legislative leaders. |
| 8 | | Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, no person may |
| 9 | | serve more than 10 consecutive years in any of the following |
| 10 | | leadership roles: Speaker of the House of Representatives, |
| 11 | | President of the Senate, Minority Leader of the House of |
| 12 | | Representatives, and Minority Leader of the Senate. The |
| 13 | | limitations imposed by this amendatory Act of the 102nd |
| 14 | | General Assembly apply to service beginning on and after the |
| 15 | | second Wednesday in January of 2023.
