| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Louis "Lou" Vargas of Crest Hill, who |
| 4 | | passed away on October 15, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lou Vargas was born to Josephine (Carillo) and |
| 6 | | Richard J. Vargas on December 11, 1946; he served in the U.S. |
| 7 | | Army during the Vietnam War; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Lou Vargas retired from Commonwealth Edison after |
| 9 | | more than 19 years of service; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Lou Vargas served as the past commander of the New |
| 11 | | Lenox VFW and VFW Stone City Post #2199; his favorite hobby was |
| 12 | | working on and restoring older cars; he also worked on many |
| 13 | | race cars and teams at the Grundy County Speedway; he enjoyed |
| 14 | | watching college football and the Chicago Bears; he will be |
| 15 | | remembered for being a proud and patriotic man; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Lou Vargas was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 17 | | his brothers, Richard "Ric" Vargas and Anthony Vargas; and his |
| 18 | | sister, Cecilia (late Frank) Brulc; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Lou Vargas is survived by his wife of 45 years, |
| 20 | | Minnie "Bernice" (Flatt) Vargas; his children, Billie (David) |
