SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Gerald "Jerry" Braughton of Rock Island, 
4who passed away on June 2, 2020; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton was born in Taylorville to Loren 
6Potts and Kathryn Braughton on August 29, 1945; he graduated 
7from Western Illinois University; he served in the U.S. Army 
8during the Vietnam War; he married Emilie Roels on April 18, 
91970; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton was employed at the Rock Island 
11Arsenal with Quality Control; he had previously been employed 
12by Navistar; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton was a member of Church of Peace in 
14Rock Island and Trio Lodge No. 57; he loved spending time with 
15his family and golfing; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton was preceded in death by his 
17parents and his siblings, Esther Herditsky, Della Becker, 
18Sharon Herditsky, and Harold Braughton; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton is survived by his wife of over 50 
20years, Emilie, and his daughters, Amy Braughton (Leigh TenPas)

1and Beth Braughton (Mike Wigglesworth); therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Gerald "Jerry" Braughton and extend our sincere condolences to 
5his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
6further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Jerry Braughton as an expression of 
9our deepest sympathy.
