| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of David D. Duncan Sr. of Peoria, who passed |
| 4 | | away on May 2, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, David Duncan Sr. was born in Malvina, Mississippi |
| 6 | | on September 11, 1923; he was raised in Rosedale, Mississippi |
| 7 | | by Robert Duncan and Lillie Mae Brown Austin Duncan; he married |
| 8 | | Lillie Duncan in December 1940; together, they had seven |
| 9 | | children, and she preceded him in death on July 11, 1976; he |
| 10 | | was drafted into the U.S. Army on October 24, 1944 and served |
| 11 | | in Japan during WWII; he was honorably discharged on January |
| 12 | | 24, 1946; he married Lueseal Duncan on April 10, 1980; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, David Duncan Sr. was committed to his faith; he |
| 14 | | was a dedicated member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist |
| 15 | | Church, where he served on the usher board; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, David Duncan Sr. enjoyed playing checkers and |
| 17 | | played in many local tournaments in the Peoria area; he also |
| 18 | | enjoyed playing pool and spending time with his family; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, David Duncan Sr. was preceded in death by his |
| 20 | | parents; his first wife, Lillie; his son, Harold Duncan; one |
| 21 | | brother; three sisters; and seven grandchildren; and
