SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Earl Bryant Anderson of Bloomington, who passed away on April 12, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Earl Anderson was born in Bloomington to Benjamin Franklyn and Jessie Pearl Bryant Anderson on April 1, 1934; he graduated from Decatur High School and attended Millikin University in Decatur; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1962; and

WHEREAS, After his military service, Earl Anderson worked at Slavens Collection Agency in Bloomington; he eventually acquired the agency and renamed it the Anderson Financial Network Inc., AFNI today, and served as president from 1975 to 1995; he was an owner of Prairie Signs Inc.; he was a partner in an insurance firm (Insurance Producer) and 462 Partners in Decatur; he was the founder and owner of the Credit Bureau of Woodford County, McLean County License & Title, the Property Owners and Managers Association (POMA), The American Distributing Company, the Crossroads Auction Company, the Anderson Advantage Holding Company, and the Anderson Triad Company; and

WHEREAS, Earl Anderson served as president of the Illinois Collectors Association and on the boards of a number of organizations, including the Illinois Sign Association, the Credit Bureau of Bloomington, the Bloomington-Normal Transit Authority, the Bloomington Unlimited, and the Minonk Planning Commission; he also served as president of the Tri-County Mayors' Association while serving as the mayor of Minonk from 1997 to 2001; along the way, he also obtained his private pilot's license; and

WHEREAS, Earl Anderson committed to his faith in 1973; he enjoyed sharing his faith with others, offering counsel, and listening to friends in need; he also enjoyed telling stories and jokes; he was known for making an impression on everyone he met; and

WHEREAS, Earl Anderson was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jennie Anderson; his son, Curt Anderson; and his grandson, Curt Mocilan; and

WHEREAS, Earl Anderson is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Suzanne Draper Anderson; his daughters, Cassandra Anderson and Candace (Bob) Furgeson; his granddaughter, Sarah (Jeff) Hobbs; his granddaughter-in-law, Erica Mocilan; his great-grandchildren, Reagan Hobbs, Owen Hobbs, Rylan Mocilan, Abel Mocilan, and Emma Collier; and his beloved nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Earl Bryant Anderson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Earl Anderson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
